| Race Comments: WICKED STYLE maneuvered in approaching the first turn to vie for the lead four wide, took over, went along under careful handling, edged closer to the inside, shook off SLEW'S TIZNOW entering the upper stretch and increased his advantage when kept to the task. SLEW'S TIZNOW, always well placed while tracking the leaders four wide, was asked for more nearing the stretch and couldn't race with the winner while all out to save the place. OLD MAN BUCK, unhurried early, was carried wide entering the backstretch, commenced a serious five wide bid on the far turn, loomed a solid threat for the drive but couldn't muster the needed response. ADRIANO, between foes early and unhurried, moved four wide on the far turn, edged closer to the inside for the drive and managed a mild gain. TEND, well placed inside early, was steadied entering the backstretch, continued within easy striking distance into the stretch and flattened out. THE ROUNDHOUSE, outrun to the far turn, managed a mild late gain while four wide and wasn't a serious threat. FIDELIO, four or five wide in a contending position for six furlongs, weakened gradually. BRIARWOOD CIRCLE, well placed between foes early, continued four wide around the far turn and tired entering the lane. READY SET was steadied behind GOLD TRAIN when that one was pulled up entering the backstretch, bore out suddenly and continued wide. REFEREE, between horses, was steadied and forced out at the three-quarter pole and was done nearing the stretch. MIKIMOTO'S MOJO never was prominent. GOLD TRAIN, up close inside the winner early, took a bad step nearing the backstretch. He was pulled up lame and vanned off. |
