Race Comments: CLOUDY'S KNIGHT was well placed early, stalked three wide along the backstretch, lodged an outside move on the turn, charged to the front in midstretch, dug in when challenged in deep stretch and prevailed after a long hard drive. ASK (GB) was unhurried after breaking slowly, raced well back for a mile mile, closed the gap while four wide leaving the turn, lodged an outside move to reach contention in upper stretch, lugged in while threatening in midstretch, gained steadily to challenge in deep stretch but could not get up. QUIJANO (GER) raced well back to the turn, closed the gap four wide entering the stretch and rallied belatedly from outside. STREAM OF GOLD (IRE) saved ground while well in hand early, moved between horses along the backstretch, raced in traffic while gaining on the turn, advanced between horses in upper stretch, split rivals then rallied mildly between horses. ORACLE WEST (SAF) raced in midpack for seven furlongs, rallied along the rail leaving the turn, closed the gap along the inside in upper stretch and flattened out late. SUNRIVER rushed up early, pressed the pace in the three path along the backstretch, edged closer on the turn, surged to the front in upper stretch, relinquished the lead in midstretch and faltered in the late stages. SKY CONQUEROR was outrun while far back to the turn, swung five wide entering the stretch and rallied belatedly. HONOLULU (IRE) trailed for most of the way after breaking slowly, swung wide and lacked a late response. WINDWARD ISLANDS raced up close in good position for a mile and faltered. IRISH WELLS (FR) raced between rivals to the turn and gave way. LINDA'S LAD (GB) raced just off the pace between rivals, four wide to turn and tired. MARSH SIDE set the pace along the rail to the top of the stretch and gave way. |
