Contact: Eric Wing (914) 434-3529

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) will host a free equine tax forum at the Marriott Griffin Gate hotel in Lexington, Ky., on Monday, April 6, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Forum speakers will include Thomas A. (Tad) Davis, a partner in the Washington, D.C., law firm Davis & Harman, LLP, and author of numerous guides on tax matters affecting horse owners, including “Tax Tips for Horse Owners" and “Horse Owners and Breeders Tax Handbook." Also speaking will be Los Angeles tax attorney Richard W. Craigo, as well as tax law experts from the Lexington area.

The forum will consist of four sessions, each including a Q&A. Topics include hobby/loss criteria for horse owners; sales/like-kind exchanges; depreciation and expensing opportunities; and partnerships and LLCs.

"This year's forum has been expanded to cover the hobby/loss provision and the new depreciation schedule, among many other issues," said Peggy Hendershot, senior vice president of legislative affairs for the NTRA. “This forum is an unparalleled opportunity to ask questions of the country's top equine tax attorneys and we encourage both owners and breeders to participate,"

Attendance is limited to 100. To reserve your spot, contact Joe Bacigalupo of the NTRA by phone at 1-800-792-6872, ext. 677, or via email at joeb@ntra.com.

The NTRA is a broad-based coalition of horse racing interests consisting of leading thoroughbred racetracks, owners, breeders, trainers and affiliated horse racing associations, charged with increasing the popularity of horse racing and improving economic conditions for industry participants. The NTRA has offices in Lexington, Ky., and New York. NTRA press releases appear on the NTRA web site, NTRA.com.
