Only 11 horses have ever won thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown. The grueling schedule of three races in five weeks at longer distances than most three-year-olds have previously run is probably the most difficult task any horse will face in his racing career. Affirmed in 1978 remains the last Triple Crown winner.

The $2 million Kentucky Derby, also known as the Run for the Roses, is now called the Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands and will kick off what promises to be an action-packed 2008 Triple Crown on May 4.
