Download 2007 Championships Pre-Entry form here (Coming Soon) Horses that are nominated to Breeders' Cup and are eligible for Breeders' Cup Championship races must pay entry fees as indicated. Horses that were not nominated as weanlings may be late nominated or supplemented. No horse can be pre-entered for more than two races. When a horse is pre-entered for two races, the required pre-entry payment must be for the race of greatest value, regardless of whether it is the race of first preference. Horses that are nominated to Breeders' Cup or were European Breeders' Fund Eligible prior to 1996 The pre-entry fee is 1% of the purse and is due by Noon (Local Time at Place of Pre-Entry), Monday, October 15, 2007. An entry fee of 1.5% of the purse is required to pass the box at the time of entry closing- 10:00 a.m. (EDT), Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the Breeders' Cup Racing Office-Monmouth Park. Horses of Racing Age Nominations Download Horses of Racing Age nomination form here Horses not nominated as weanlings may be nominated at any time during their racing careers by payment of $150,000 if sired by a nominated Breeders' Cup, European Breeders' Fund or BCL/EBF Common Fund stallion (stallion nominated in the year of conception) or by payment of $250,000 if sired by a stallion that was not nominated to any program in the year of conception. This nomination payment will make the horse eligible during their entire racing career for Breeders' Cup Championships races, or any other Breeders' Cup purse or awards programs for which they otherwise qualify. Horses that are not nominated to Breeders' Cup For horses conceived after the 1995 breeding season, the supplementary fee is 9% of the guaranteed purse if the sire was nominated to the Breeders' Cup, European Breeders' Fund or the BCL/EBF Common Fund program when the horse was conceived or 15% of the guaranteed purse if the sire and horse were not nominated. One-third (1/3) of the supplementary fee is due October 15, 2007; the remaining two-thirds (2/3) is due to pass the box at time of entry closing, October 23, 2007 as designated by the host track. Note | Payment of supplementary pre-entry and entry fees will make a horse eligible only for a specific Breeders' Cup Championships race. Payment of such fees will not make the horse eligible to any other Breeders' Cup purse or awards program. Refunds for Pre-Entry, Entry and Supplementary Fees Pre-entry fees and entry fees for nominated horses are non-refundable except in the event of sickness or disability certified by the track or state veterinarian (or veterinary certification acceptable to Breeders' Cup Limited) or in the event a horse is prevented from starting by a decision of the Racing Directors/Secretaries Panel in order to limit the field of starters. The first one-third (1/3) of the supplementary fee is non-refundable except in the event a horse is prevented from starting by a decision of the Racing Directors/Secretaries Panel in order to limit the field of starters. The remaining two-thirds (2/3) of this fee is non-refundable except in the event of sickness or disability certified by the track or state veterinarian (or veterinary certification acceptable to Breeders' Cup Limited) or in the event a horse is prevented from starting by a decision of the Racing Directors/Secretaries Panel in order to limit the field of starters. Supplementary Fee Purse Enhancements All supplementary fees in excess of the pre-entry and entry fees (totaling 2.5% of the gross purse) will be added to the purse of the race in which the non-nominated horse pre-entered (race of first choice) or entered and distributed among the first five placing positions. Example | If a horse pays a 9% supplementary fee in a $2 million race, $50,000 is allocated to pre-entry and entry fees. The remaining $130,000 of the supplementary fee is added to the purse and distributed among the first five placing positions. If a horse pays a 15% supplementary fee in a $2 million race, $50,000 is allocated to pre-entry and entry fees. The remaining $250,000 is added to the purse and distributed among the first five placing positions. Non-refunded supplementary fees (less that portion allocated to pre-entry and entry fees) pertaining to supplementary entries that do not start in a race will be added to the purse of the race that the horse pre-entered (race of first choice) or entered. Supplementary Fee Credit Non-nominated horses that are supplementary entries will receive a credit in an amount equal to the supplementary fees paid (less that portion allocated to pre-entry and/or entry fees) in all subsequent years in which the non-nominated horses are supplementary entries in Championships races. The credit may not be utilized to reduce that portion of supplementary fees allocated to pre-entry and/or entry fees but shall be a credit against the remaining portion of the supplementary fees. Example | A $180,000 supplementary fee paid to enter a $2 million race will provide a $130,000 credit to that horse's supplementary fees in future Championships races, regardless of the ownership of the horse. If the horse should enter the $3 million Breeders' Cup Turf or the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic in subsequent years, it will be required to pay the 9% supplementary fee minus the $130,000 credit. Once a horse has paid the highest supplementary fee, it may start in Championships races in subsequent years by paying only the pre-entry and entry fees totaling 2.5% of the gross purse. Back to Top

A maximum of 14 starters are allowed in each of the eleven Breeders' Cup Championships races with the exception of the Juvenile Turf which will be limited to 12 starters. Breeders' Cup Limited has adopted a field selection system to select runners in the event fields are oversubscribed. This system ranks horses in order of preference based upon (i) performance in Breeders' Cup Challenge Races, (ii) a point system, and (iii) the judgment of a panel of racing experts. The field selection system will be implemented as necessary following the taking of pre-entries on October 15, 2007, to officially rank the oversubscribed fields. The Racing Directors/Secretaries Panel (the “Panel”) will rank all the horses pre-entered in the oversubscribed races as described below. After pre-entry, any vacancies in the fields will be filled by horses in order of panel preference. Back to Top

The winners of certain graded stakes known as Breeders' Cup Challenge Races will earn the right to start in the Championship Race that corresponds to the Breeders' Cup division of the Challenge Race. In the event a horse wins Challenge Races in more than one Breeders' Cup division, that horse may be entered in the Championship Race that corresponds with any of the divisions of the Challenge Races that horse won. | Date | Track | Race | Division | | 7/28/2007 | Saratoga | Whitney (GI) | Classic | | 8/19/2007 | Del Mar | Pacific Classic (GI) | Classic | | 9/30/2007 | Belmont | Jockey Club Gold Cup (GI) | Classic | | 9/30/2007 | Oak Tree | Goodwood (GI)* | Classic | | | | | | | 7/28/2007 | Saratoga | Go For Wand (GI) | Distaff | | 9/30/2007 | Belmont | Beldame (GI) | Distaff | | 10/7/2007 | Oak Tree | Lady's Secret (GI)* | Distaff | | 10/7/2007 | Keeneland | Juddmonte Spinster (GI) | Distaff | | | | | | | 7/28/2007 | Saratoga | Diana (GI) | F&M Turf | | 8/11/2007 | Arlington Park | Beverly D (GI) | F&M Turf | | 10/6/2007 | Keeneland | First Ladies (GII) | F&M Turf | | | | | | | 10/6/2007 | Keeneland | Lane's End Breeders' Futurity (GI) | Juvenile | | 10/6/2007 | Belmont | Champagne (GI) | Juvenile | | 04/29/2007 | Sha Tin | Champions Mile (GI) | Mile Turf | | 8/19/2007 | Del Mar | Del Mar Mile (GII)* | Mile Turf | | 10/6/2007 | Keeneland | Shadwell Turf Mile (GI) | Mile Turf | | 10/7/2007 | Oak Tree | Oak Tree Mile (GII)* | Mile Turf | | | | | | | 7/28/2007 | Saratoga | Alfred G. For current division point standings click here. Specific point values are assigned to first-, second- and third-place finishes in stakes throughout the United States from January 1 through the pre-entry deadline date October 15, 2007 that have been granted graded status by the American Graded Stakes Committee of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association. Based on this system, win, place and show horses in Grade I stakes earn ten, six and four points, respectively. The top three finishers in Grade II stakes earn six, four and two points respectively, and in Grade III races the points earned are four, two and one, respectively. | | | | Win | Place | Show | | Grade I | 10 | 6 | 4 | | Grade II | 6 | 4 | 2 | | Grade III | 4 | 2 | 1 | Note: In cases where dead heats occur for win, place and show finishes in graded stakes, those horses that finish in a dead heat will be awarded the total applicable points for that win, place or show position. Except for the three two-year old Championship Races, Graded Stakes Points for dirt races will be the only points considered for horses pre-entered in dirt Championship Races and Graded Stakes Points for turf races will be the only points considered for horses pre-entered in turf Championship Races. All Graded Stakes Points will be considered for the three two-year old Championship Races. Back to Top In the case of an oversubscribed fourteen horse field, the first horse(s) selected will be the winner(s) of Breeders' Cup Challenge Races in the corresponding Breeders' Cup division, the next horses will be ranked at pre-entry based on the total number of Graded Stakes points they have collected during the year until a total of seven horses have been ranked based on Breeders' Cup Challenge Races and Graded Stakes Points. With the exception of the three Juvenile races, all horses will need to accumulate a minimum of six (6) points in American Graded Stakes Races to receive an automatic selection on points. The horses remaining after the first seven in oversubscribed fourteen horse fields at the time of pre-entry will be ranked in order of preference by the Panel. The Panel will be free to establish its own criteria or ranking, so that high-quality horses of demonstrated ability will have the opportunity to participate in Championship Races regardless of earlier participation in graded events. In the case of an oversubscribed twelve horse field, the first horse(s) selected will be the winner(s) of Breeders' Cup Challenge Races in the corresponding Breeders' Cup division, the next horses will be ranked at pre-entry based on the total number of Graded Stakes points they have collected during the year until a total of six horses have been ranked based on Breeders' Cup Challenge Races and Graded Stakes Points. The horses remaining after the first six in oversubscribed twelve horse fields at the time of pre-entry will be ranked in order of preference by the Panel. The Panel will be free to establish its own criteria or ranking, so that high-quality horses of demonstrated ability will have the opportunity to participate in Championship Races regardless of earlier participation in graded events. Horses will be allowed to pre-enter a maximum of two races. The races in which the horse pre-enters must be designated in order of choice at the time of pre-entry on October 15, 2007. Performance in Breeders' Cup Challenge Races and points earned in American Graded Stakes Races have no bearing on a given Championship Race field unless the race is oversubscribed (more than twelve or fourteen, as applicable, pre-entered). Once a horse has been ranked among the first twelve or fourteen horses, as applicable, in its race of first choice at pre-entry, its ranking in its race of second choice will be based only on the judgment of the Panel regardless of the number of points earned in American Graded Stakes Races. If a horse is not ranked among the first twelve or fourteen horses in its race of first choice, then its points earned in American Graded Stakes Races will be utilized for ranking in its race of its second choice. "Ties" at Pre-Entry In the event more than twelve or fourteen horses, as applicable, are pre-entered in a particular Championship Race and two or more horses are tied for the sixth or seventh, as applicable, highest number of American Graded Stakes Races points at the time of pre-entry, the Panel shall decide which of those horses shall be the sixth or seventh, as applicable, highest point earner. Horses not selected shall then be ranked in order of preference by the Panel at its discretion. Pre-Entry Rankings The Panel will issue a list of all horses ranked in order of preference for each Championship Race that is oversubscribed at the time of pre-entry. After pre-entry, any vacancies in the fields of oversubscribed races will be filled by horses in the Panel's order of preference as determined at pre-entry. NOTE: Points will have no bearing on ranking after pre-entry. Entry Procedures Entries for all Breeders' Cup Championship races will close at 10:00 a.m., (EDT), October 23, 2007. At the time of entry, a maximum of fourteen horses will be accepted for entry in each fourteen horse race based on the order of preference in the rankings established at pre-entry. At the time of entry, a maximum of twelve horses will be accepted for entry in each twelve horse race based on the order of preference in the rankings established at pre-entry. A horse will be permitted to enter two Breeders' Cup Championship races under the following conditions: (i) the horse is eligible for both races; (ii) the races will be contested on different days; (iii) the pre-entry and entry fees are paid for both races; and (iv) neither race is oversubscribed. A horse may not double-enter Breeders' Cup Championship races if the effect of such double entry is to exclude another horse from competing. Pre-entry and entry fees will not be refunded for the race in which the owner of the double-entered horse elects not to compete. There will be no also-eligible list or scratch time and no horse can move into the field of a Championship Race after the taking of entries. Pre-Race Inspection Breeders' Cup Limited, Monmouth Park and the New Jersey Racing Commission have assembled a team of impartial, experienced equine veterinarians that will be conducting a series of physical inspections as well as observing each horse under tack during the week preceding the event. Horses will be inspected on multiple occasions in the stable area, initially upon arrival and at least one other time prior to race day. Race day customary procedures for pre-race inspections also will be followed. European Breeders' Fund Breeders' Cup Limited (BCL) and the European Breeders' Fund (EBF), which is a similar program in Great Britain, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, have entered into a cross registration agreement that allows horses in the EBF program to participate in the Breeders' Cup World Championships races by the payment of fees determined on the basis of the horses' eligibility to participate. In addition, BCL and EBF have entered into a Common Fund agreement, under the terms of which other horses may participate in BCL programs. Horses are permitted to participate in the BCL program under the terms of the Cross-Registration and Common Fund agreements, which are controlling as to the eligibility of the horses subject thereto.
