Fort Larned showed he was an elite member of the older male division with a victory in the 2012 Whitney Invitational Handicap (G1) prior to posting a career-defining triumph later that season in the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1).
A bay colt by E Dubai, Fort Larned earned his first stakes win in March 2012 at Tampa Bay Downs with a victory in the Challenger Stakes and he followed with a dominant victory in the Skip Away Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park in his graded stakes debut for trainer Ian Wilkes.
A homebred of Janis Whitham, Fort Larned's second dam is two-time champion Bayakoa (Arg).
