Bred: W. S. Farish (Ky.)
Sire: War Pass
Dam: Runup the Colors, by A.P. Indy
After finishing in the top three in each of his first three starts, Revolutionary broke through with a smashing 8 1/2-length romp at Aqueduct to stamp himself a 3-year-old to watch in 2013. Revolutionary caught the eye of race fans when he won the Withers Stakes (G3) in spite of trouble throughout the race.
Revolutionary again impressed in the Louisiana Derby (G1) when he held on by a neck to win the race in spite of a wide trip. The move made him one of five Todd Pletcher colts headed for the Kentucky Derby. Revolutionary had the best finish of any Pletcher trainee in the race, finishing third.
Grade 1 winner Runup the Colors is the dam (mother) of Revolutionary, who hails from a family that includes 2003 Horse of the Year Mineshaft.
Revolutionary is from the first of two crops by 2007 champion 2-year-old male War Pass, who died in December 2010.
