Trained by Racing Hall of Famer Bob Baffert, Super Ninety Nine debuted with a smashing victory at Santa Anita Park that stamped him a young colt to keep an eye on among the 2-year-old class of 2012.
After winning his 2013 debut by 3 1/4 lengths, Super Ninety Nine made himself a Derby contender by winning the Southwest Stakes (G3) by 11 1/4 lengths. A third place finish in the Santa Anita Derby (G1) behind Goldencents and the injured Flashback guaranteed him a spot in the Kentucky Derby gate.
