Bred: Calumet Farm (Ky.)

Sire: Quiet American

Dam: Antoniette, by Nicholas

The 5-year-old bay mare by Quiet American has been something of a money machine for owners Lee and Susan Searing, racing as C R K Stable, and trainer John Sadler. Over her four-year racing career, she has finished worse than fourth only once. The filly’s earnings exceed $1.38 million.

Switch, bred by historic Calumet Farm in Lexington, Ky., is the sixth foal out of the Nicholas mare Antionette and by far her most accomplished. She sold for $150,000 at the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale and, two years later, C R K Stable went to $250,000 to purchase her half-sister Switched Up.

Twice runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1), in 2010 and 2011 at Churchill Downs, Switch is heading toward that race again, this time at her home base of Santa Anita Park.
