Owners
Longtime fans Jack and Laurie Wolf became owners in 2000 when they formed Starlight Stables and purchased six yearlings. A member of that initial group of Starlight runners was Harlan's Holiday. Purchased for $97,000, the colt developed into a multiple Grade 1 winner with career earnings of $3.3 million. During the next few years, the Wolfs and partners campaigned a number of high-profile runners, including the two-time champion filly Ashado, who won six Grade 1 races. In 2007, the Wolfs, who live in Louisville, Ky., and Saratoga Springs, N.Y., formed a new company, Starlight Racing, with Don and Barbara Lucarelli of Duanesburg, N.Y. Starlight Racing's goal is to compete for the top prizes in racing with a select few new partners. Starlight's top runners include 2008 Blue Grass winner Monba, Grade 1 winner Octave, Grade 1 winner Take the Points and the multiple graded stakes-winning sprinter Hilda's Passion.
