Coming up this Saturday the 27th of October, the Lexus Fashions on the Field will make its inaugural debut at Keeneland race track in Lexington, Kentucky. The Lexus Fashions on the Field is a fashion competition open to the public that brings light to any of the well dressed women and men who attend the races. These ladies and gentlemen will walk across the runway in front of the celebrity judges and the crowd to compete for a boat of fabulous prizes.
Fashion at the Races has teamed up with historic Keeneland to put on this fabulous event. The event itself has been extremely successful overseas in Australia, England, Ireland, and Dubai. The goal of this event is to bring a new fan base to the racetracks and create a more positive image in the public's eye of the wonderful sport of horse racing.
So what happens on the 27th? The doors will open up at 11:00am and all contestants who have already registered online, will come to the Sales pavilion lobby to check in. They can then proceed to the contestants lounge where they can sip on our Maker's Mark signature cocktail or even choose to get their make-up and hair touched up by artists at the Sephora Pamper Point. Once they are looking their best, they are able to get their pictures taken in front of the TOPS Fashion backdrop and mill around the Keeneland Gift Shop area, Monkee's boutique, and see what our milliner's Polly Singer, Lisa Tan, and Forme' Millinery have to offer. With a wonderful prize pool worth over $6000, people would be mad to not enter!
Onstage the girls and guys will be encouraged to have fun, strut their stuff and let their personality shine through. Our emcee Wlex 18's Kristin Pflum will ask some of them about themselves and about their outfits whilst our judges have time to assess them and then decide on their favorites. The judging panel itself will consist of Donna Brothers, a former top class female jockey and now TVG analyst who always looks fabulous. Shelia Bayes, Lexington's very own "Diamond Queen" who definitely has an eye for style and beauty. Edwin Rye, a fabulous stylist responsible for some of the best looks you see around town and Jenny Pfanenstiel, owner and designer of Forme' Millinery in Chicago.
Not a contestant? Just want to come for the show? Not a problem! You won't miss out on racing either. You can watch the competition, and the horse races, while enjoying a wager or two with a drink in your hand. The competition is supposed to showcase the horse racing fans, as well as the races. We truly believe that by melding the two loves of fashion and racing together we can create a whole new social scene at the track that will breathe new life into the industry.
