- Born: March 3, 1959, Brighton, England
- Residence: Manor Valley Farm, Versailles, Ky.
- Family: wife Sherri, daughter Nicole, sons Declan and Liam ... Sherri's father is Hall of Fame jockey Bill Boland, who piloted Middleground to victory in the 1950 Kentucky Derby while still an apprentice rider
- Racing Career: Came to America in 1987 and worked under trainer Thomas Skiffington and Billy Badgett in New York ... Left New York for Aiken, S.C. to break and train the Claiborne horses, then moved to Illinois to be farm trainer for Richard Duchossois' Hill 'n' Dale Farm ... Mitchell took out his trainer's license in 2000 and since then has carved out a successful Chicago-based stable specializing in Illinois-bred runners, including 2003 Illinois-bred horse of the year Summer Mis, who also garnered the state's champion older female honors that year. In fact, Mitchell trainees earned four divisional Illinois-bred championships in 2003 alone, with 3-year-old filly Julie's Prize and 2-year-old colt or gelding Sir Fidgety adding to Summer Mis' hardware; Julie's Prize and Summer Mis also earned Illinois-bred championship titles in 2002 ... He has continued his success with state-breds in 2005, but in open company, he saddled Original Spin for a victory in the Arlington-Washington Lassie. Original Spin rewarded Mitchell's first Breeders' Cup appearance with a third-place finish in the Juvenile Fillies in what he and his family considered a homecoming -- New York is where Sherri is originally from and the two met while working in the Big Apple
- Breeding/Racing Operation: With their move to the Bluegrass, Anthony has moved his base of operation to Keeneland. He trains a half-sister to Original Spin and has a 2006 foal out of Summer Mis by Empire Maker named Summer's Maker ...
