Strengths: Connections of this classy veteran have not been afraid to canvass the country in search of the best sprint races, and he’s won more than half of his career starts while taking on the best of the best – especially in the past year.
Weaknesses: Bordonaro knows only one style, full tilt from the opening bell, so he can be susceptible to a speed duel or taken completely out of his game with a few bad strides out of the gate. Only 1-for-6 in 2007, his best days may be behind him, though he remains highly competitive.
In The Genes: Chilean-born sire Memo was 2-time champion in his homeland before becoming one of America's top sprinters (winning Commonwealth at Kee and Triple Bend at Hol). Memo also has produced $1.7 million earner Grey Memo and multiple stakes winner Memorette as well as top older sprinter/router McCann's Mohave. Dam, Miss Excitement, earned more than $100,000.
Bet You Didn’t Know: Jockeys Garrett Gomez and Patrick Valenzuela are a combined 8-for-10 aboard Bordonaro, while everyone else who has ridden him are a combined 2-for-9.
