Strengths: A pure and true distance runner who has tactical speed to get himself into a spot and out of trouble. Can be up on the pace, but also has been effective when forced to stalk farther behind the top flight. Has carried top weights with success and handled a myriad of surfaces.
Weaknesses: Few, if any, but it's worth noting that he's had issues breaking from the starting gate in a few of his early North American outings. That won't get you beat in most 1-1/4 miles races, but could be troublesome in a capacity field of 14.
In The Genes: From the same South American sire, Candy Stripes, who produced US Grade 1 winners Leroidesanimaux and Different. Candy Stripes died Feb. 28, 2007 at Haras Carampagne in Argentina. He was stricken with colic at the age of 25. Dam Quendom (now at Hill 'n' Dale Farm in Kentucky) never raced. She has a 2007 booking to Distorted Humor.
Status: He captured a pair of Eclipse Awards for 2006: Champion Older Male and Horse of the Year. Working toward his defense of the Suburban Handicap after two grade 1 wins in '07, he was injured in a workout and will retire to stud at Shadwell's Nashwan Stud Lexington. His 2008 stud fee will be $35,000.
Bet You Didn't Know: Invasor is Spanish for “invader,” and this colt took on rivals in Uruguay, Dubai and the United States.
