  • Through Oct. 5, 2008, Bravo ranked 18th in the nation by purse earnings with $6,601,677 and 141 wins from 773 mounts. He visited the winner’s circle 18% of the time, finishing in the money at a 53% rate.
  • Top mounts in 2008 included Anak Nakal (G2 Pennsylvania Derby), J’ray (G2 Canadian Stakes), Notional (G3 Salvator Mile Handicap), My Princess Jess (G3 Boiling Springs Stakes), J Z Warrior (Light Hearted Stakes, Dearly Precious Stakes), and Coal Play (Majestic Prince Stakes).
  • Suffered a fractured left clavicle bone in a spill at Belmont Park on Sept. 7, 2007. Resumed galloping on horses in mid-October with the goal of riding in the Breeders’ Cup… did so, finishing 12th in the Distaff aboard Prop Me Up and 7th in the Sprint on Commentator, and 7th in Dirt Mile on Park Avenue Ball.

  • Despite breaking his back in a January 2006 spill at Gulfstream Park, continued his dominance of New Jersey racing. He returned to riding in May and won his 12th riding title at Monmouth.
  • Regarding his injury-plagued career, Bravo said, “I’m just thankful everytime I can come back. When I come back, I’m always thinking the worst in terms of getting my business back, but then I hope for the best and it works out.” ... Bravo uses agent Drew Mollica.
  • “Jersey Joe” has dominated the New Jersey racing circuit since the early 1990s, earning 13 riding titles at Monmouth and nine at The Meadowlands. In 1991 he became the first rider in New Jersey history to win the meets at Garden State, Meadowlands and Monmouth in one year ... He splits his winters between New York and Florida.
  • First grade 1 winner was Formal Gold in the 1997 Donn Handicap. Other top mounts have included Valid Video, Lion Heart and Wynn Dot Comma.
  • Is a third-generation jockey … Grandfather Bartolo and father George also rode.
  • At 13, he was riding Quarter Horses in Texas … Started riding Thoroughbreds in late 1988 at Calder Race Course. Won his first race aboard Daffy Doc.
