Strengths: Storied pedigree and a Hall of Fame trainer calling the shots. Has a fantastic finishing acceleration, capable of 11-and-change final furlongs over a route of ground. Handles footing equally well from pavement to goo.
Weaknesses: Even Bobby Frankel wonders aloud whether 1-1/2 miles is within his grasp. Female siblings pushed to the hilt at 10 panels, but his Man o' War win looked like he's capable of more in the right scenario.
In The Genes: Full brother to two past BC Filly & Mare Turf champions (Banks Hill, Intercontinental). Dam, Hasili, also has produced G1 winner Heat Haze and G1-placed Dansili and Champs Elysees, making her one of the most spectacular broodmares of all-time. Late sire, Danehill, had a storied stallion career that included his noteworthy son Rock of Gibraltar.
Status: Cacique's below-par run in the 2006 Breeders' Cup has not diminished his demand as a sire. He stands at Juddmonte's Banstead Manor Stud, near Newmarket, England and we'll see his first crop of foals on the track in 2010.
Bet You Didn't Know: The foals of Hasili to run in the Breeders' Cup (five different to date) have collectively earned $1,730,820.
