  • Racing Career: Retired at a ceremony in his honor Nov. 10, 2007 at Churchill Downs. On his final day as a rider, he won on Ethan's Gift before finishing seventh on Bel Air Beauty in the G3 Mrs. Revere and ninth aboard maiden Holy Roman Empire. In his 32-year career, he won 5,043 races from 31,321 mounts; 330 of those wins were at Churchill. He had accumulated earnings of $100,857,648 ... His most memorable victory came in the 2006 Kentucky Oaks aboard Lemons Forever. The pair rallied from last place to win by 1 1/2 lengths at odds of 47-1 ... Best finishes from previous Breeders’ Cup mounts have been a third in 2005 Classic with Perfect Drift, a third in the 2000 Juvenile Fillies with She’s A Devil Due, and two fourths, including his final Breeders' Cup ride in 2007 aboard Benny the Bull in the Sprint ... He had a total of five Kentucky Derby mounts with best finishes on Imawildandcrazyguy (4th in 2007) and Buzzards Bay (5th in 2005) ...
