Strengths: Durable ex-turfer made 10 starts in 2005 and has been spotted well with less activity this year in bigger events. Outstanding stretch runner, but quick enough to stay in contention through even the fastest early fractions.
Weaknesses: Has been able to succeed despite fanning three and four wide in most of his rallying wins, but that gets more difficult as the competition improves. Many of his late moves have been aided by :43-and-change opening half-miles.
In The Genes: First G1 winner out of late sire Joyeux Danseur, the G1 turf winner who passed away in Nov. 2005. Dam, Cantamar, never won, but she is a daughter of 1988 Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Gulch, who scored his defining victory at Churchill.
Bet You Didn't Know: Sire Lure was claimed 3 times in 2005 alone and has competed for 4 different trainers in his career.
