In The Genes: Sire, Indian Charlie, won the 1998 Santa Anita Derby and finished third as the favorite in that spring's Run for the Roses. Dam, Hustleeta, is half-sister to Cherokee Wonder, a multiple stakes winner of $280,000-plus.
Status: In the final race of her career, the Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Distaff, she tore suspensory ligaments and was pulled up on the clubhouse turn. The injury was not life-threatening and she was able to begin a new career as a broodmare. The 2006 Eclipse Award winner for Champion Older Female was offered at the Keeneland November sale while carrying a 2008 colt by Storm Cat. She was sold privately to Frank and Jane Lyon's Summer Wind Farm. She will be bred back to A.P. Indy.
Bet You Didn't Know: Purchased at Keeneland for $290,000 and did not debut for the Pletcher barn until March 2006.
