Strengths: She's the real deal on two continents, winning the 2004 BC Filly & Mare Turf over a course most thought would play against her at Lone Star Park. Continued to lock horns with the very best of Europe (male and female) and her closing kick was among the world's best. She has been the only mare to win two editions of the Filly & Mare Turf.
Weaknesses: She's not the easiest mare to ride, given her propensity for trouble and late-closing style. She had 5 different riders in '06, a rarity for a world-class mount. Physical issues set her back in 2005, though she finished the year with strong showings in the Breeders' Cup (2nd), Japan Cup (5th) and Hong Kong Vase (1st).
In The Genes: Sire, Cape Cross, was a premier miler, winning the G1 Lockinge at eight furlongs and finishing second in the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois. He finished ninth in the 1998 Breeders' Mile. Dam, Selection Board, lost both career starts in the UK, but she is full-sister to G1 Arlington Million winner Teleprompter.
Status: 2006 Eclipse Award winner for Outstanding Turf Female, retired from racing after finishing a fast-closing third in the Japan Cup. She gave birth to a Kingmambo colt in 2008 at Lord Derby's Stanley Estate in England. She will be bred back to German sire Monsun.
Bet You Didn't Know: Parker Brothers purchased the patent to the ouija board most know best in 1966, though the history of channeling spirits in such a manner dates back to 540 BC.
