Strengths: Kind, ratable running style allows him to be in a position to have a winning chance in nearly ever race. Effective at nearly all distances, just like his sire, including a Grade 1 win at 9 furlongs in the Woodward.
Weaknesses: No match for Invasor in the Whitney, one of his few match-ups with the very best of the Classic division. Took him 7 races to clear his first allowance condition, so his success was a work in progress.
In The Genes: Sire, Pleasant Tap, was a Breeders' Cup legacy, with 4 career starts (Juvenile, Sprint, Turf, Classic – finishing second in the Sprint and Classic). As a sire, Pleasant Tap best known for producing Japanese star Tap Dance City, a $9.5 million earner and 2006 Dubai Duty Free winner David Junior.
Status: Sold to Saudi interests in late Dec., 2006. Remained in the care of John Kimmel to prepare for Dubai World Cup, in which he finished second to his nemesis, Invasor. Now racing under the name Allam, has won four races at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In his most recent start, he was ninth in a second attempt in the Dubai World Cup.
Bet You Didn't Know: Trainer John Kimmel has a veterinary medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro was treated.
