 Silks and Media:

Strengths: Colt has been able to transfer his abilities to circuits and track surfaces literally all over the world map. Defeated one of the deepest 2-year-old fields assembled in 2006 when winning Keeneland's Lane's End Breeders Futurity.

Weaknesses: Anything over 1 1/16 miles looks a little out his range. Limits his possibilities to win the prestigious races in the handicap ranks.

In The Genes: Sire, Aptitude, was runner-up in the 2000 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes and eventual winner of the 10-furlong Jockey Club Gold Cup. Aptitude is best known so far for producing 2006 Kentucky Derby third-place finisher Steppenwolfer. First winner produced by the solid mare Zenith, a Grade 3-placed runner who earned more than $200,000.

Status: Finished fifth in the 2008 Dubai World Cup, taking his bankroll near the million-dollar mark.

Bet You Didn't Know: Trainer Doug O'Neill began his training career as a “moonlighter.” After training his stable, he'd go lay telephone lines working for the local phone company.

Biographies on jockeys, trainers and owners are from the Breeders' Cup World Championships events from 2001 through 2009, and are intended as informational resources. Biographies will be updated if an individual is again a participant in the Breeders' Cup World Championships.

Biographies are available for most horses appearing in the top 100 money earnings list, and/or for those who are frequently making headlines in the news starting with the 2006 Triple Crown season.
