Silks

Strengths: Possesses a dynamic turn of foot, most often saved for the final quarter-mile dash to the wire. Lightly raced 3-year-old filly likely has not reached her potential, though already a Group 1 winner overseas.

Weaknesses: Unproven against older fillies and mares and appears to do her best running on softer going. Lost the French Derby when second on good ground and was fourth at Keeneland in her U.S. debut on turf labeled firm.

In The Genes: Sire, Silver Hawk, is a Group 3 winner in England who was pensioned in 2003 and is best known for producing the likes of Epsom Derby winner Benny the Dip and star American turf mare Wonder Again. Second foal out of Gaily Tiara, a race winner in Japan and daughter of French Derby champion Caerleon.

Bet You Didn't Know: Germance has never gone off at odds higher than 2-to-1 in her career, but likely would be at least five times that on Breeders' Cup Day.
