Strengths: One of the world's foremost “stayers,” in that he'll handle any distance, witnessed by his Group 1 win last year in the 1-3/4 miles St. Leger. Worldly pedigree and a trainer, Aidan O'Brien, who is not afraid to put a horse up to a major test.
Weaknesses: Injury-prone runner has made only 8 starts through his 4-year-old season. Comes into the Breeders' Cup Turf with only a single, listed stakes race in Ireland this year.
In The Genes: Son of Arc de Triomphe, French Derby and Irish Derby winner Montjeu, who finished seventh in the 2000 Breeders' Cup Turf at Churchill Downs. His sons include classic winners Motivator and Hurricane Run. Dam, Ardmelody, never raced but has been a spectacular broodmare, producing 6 stakes winners across the globe.
Bet You Didn't Know: Scorpion's half-sister Memories won the Locust Grove Handicap over the Churchill Downs turf course.
