Earned a spot in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf via a Breeders' Cup Challenge victory in the Beverly D. Stakes at Arlington Park on Saturday, August 9, 2008.

Strengths: Push-button acceleration has been her grass hallmark as one of her generation’s best over an extended period of time. Effective at wide-ranging distances and able to produce her run at multiple venues around the country on firm and giving turf courses. Mauralakana has faced the very best competition in America.

Weaknesses: Mauralakana was overly keen in her last trip to Oak Tree at Santa Anita and ran her worst race in the past two years, so that’s a concern for Breeders’ Cup 2008. Her late-blitz style and narrow winning margins do not leave her much room for error regarding traffic or ground loss.
