- Professional Background: Stanley owns Star Manufacturing in Lexington, a metal stamping company that specializes in auto parts and appliance components
- Racing Background: Stanley spent time at Keeneland and saw how much fun one of his brothers was having with a racehorse he owned 1/28th of ... In 1993, Stanley went with a group of 16 to Saratoga for the Travers and the group decided to buy a horse at a two-year-olds in training sale. They bought one and a couple of weeks later when the bill came, Stanley was the only one that paid, so full ownership reverted to him. He named the filly Her Temper, after his daughter, and a few weeks later, the filly won her first start ... The next year, she won the G2 Beaumont Stakes at Keeneland ... Her Temper died in 2008 and her final foal is Denali Surprise, a bay colt by Suave that was foaled that year...Stanley often names his fillies after his daughter, Alex, and her changing disposition (i.e. Her Temper, Pleasant Temper, etc.)
- Breeding/Racing Operation: Stanley currently has five horses in training, three with Dale Romans and two with Ronny Werner, including G1 winner Swift Temper with Romans ... Swift Temper became a leading contender for this year's Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic when she defeated odds-on favorite Seventh Street in the G1 Ruffian Handicap at Belmont Park on September 12 ... She would become the third Breeders' Cup starter for Stanley, who previous campaigned graded stakes winner Ecton Park, 12th in the 1999 Breeders' Cup Classic, and Pleasant Temper, 8th in the 1999 Filly and Mare Turf ... Stanley named Ecton Park after the Lexington-area park where he has coached Little League for 12 years ... Purchased for $285,000 at the 2005 Keeneland September yearling sale, Swift Temper has enjoyed her best season at age 5, winning the G3 Sixty Sails Handicap and the G2 Delaware Handicap prior to her first Grade 1 in the Ruffian ... The daughter of Giant's Causeway raced in the Ruffian 13 days after finishing second in the G1 Personal Ensign Stakes ... "Around last August was when she started to get really good and she hasn't looked back since," Stanley said of his mare. "I don't know if it's maturity but she's certainly a different horse now than she was at age 3. You kind of have to throw out anything that happened before last August." ... Stanley currently has three broodmares boarded at Taylor Made Farm in Nicholasville, Ky. including Teenage Temper, a daughter of Pleasant Temper ... Pleasant Temper died this year after foaling a colt by Distorted Humor.
