- Family: wife, Valerie; children, Charlotte and Miguel. Older brother Nicholas also is a trainer who won the 1990 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe with Saumarez. Nicholas Clement is based in Chantilly, France, site of the famous training center operated by France Galop

- Racing Background: Clement’s father Miguel was a successful trainer in France; Nicolas and Christophe grew up in his Chantilly yard ... After working for the Alec Head family in France for a year and a half, Clement moved to the United States in early 1986 to work at Taylor Made Farm near Lexington, Ky. … In September 1986, he went to work for trainer Shug McGaughey and stayed with him until November 1987. He returned to Europe and was employed by trainer Luca Cumani at Newmarket, England for four years
- Racing Career: In the fall of 1991, Clement returned to the United States to stay and opened his own stable with six horses ... Usually has between 55 and 75 horses in training. His assistants are Nicholas Bachalard and Christophe Lorieul … Counts the Queen of England as one of his clients ... His first winner was the first horse he saddled, Spectaculaire, at Belmont Park in 1991 … Since then he has tallied a list of stakes winners, including Trampoli and Dynever (earner of more than $2.6 million); Danish, winner of the 1994 Queen Elizabeth II (G1) at Keeneland; Blu Tsumani; Meridiana; Flag Down; Rumpipumpy; Coretta; Honor Glide; Dedication; Relaxed Gesture; Forbidden Apple; and England’s Legend, who won the Beverly D. in 2001 ... He picked up his second Beverly D. with Royal Highness in 2007 and repeated again in ’08 with stable star Mauralakana. Clement is the only trainer to win the race three times ... In 2009, Clement has won 18 stakes, ten of them graded through early October, led Gio Ponti's four G1 wins in the Arlington Million, Frank Kilroe Mile, Man o' War Stakes, and Manhattan Handicap. Gio Ponti, a major winner for Clement in ’07 and ’08 as well, had his win streak snapped with a runner up finish over a soft turf in the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Belmont Park on October 3 ... Other graded stakes wins for Clement, who has already bettered his 2008 mark of 11 stakes wins, include Funny Moon's G1 Coaching Club American Oaks, Miss World in the G1 Garden City Stakes, Rutherienne in the Nassau Stakes (G2) and Noble Damsel (G3), All is Vanity in the Eatontown Handicap (G3), and In Summation in the El Conejo (G3). Other top horses in 2009 include Laureate Conductor and Endymion … In 17 Breeders’ Cup starts, Clement’s best finishes have been seconds from Coretta (1999 Filly & Mare Turf) and Forbidden Apple (2001 Mile) ... In 2008, he started three horses in the Breeders' Cup – Vacare and Mauralakana finished fifth and sixth respectively in the Filly & Mare Turf, while In Summation finished fourth in the Sprint ... Through Oct. 4, Clement ranked eighth nationally in earnings with $5,185,665 and 77 wins.
