Started attending races at age 14 (slipping into Oaklawn Park). After deciding that college was not for him, he got a job as a hotwalker and groom with Paul Adwell, trainer of Elocutionist. He started with Joe Cantey as a groom, then became foreman and eventually assistant trainer during the Cox's Ridge, Temperence Hill, and Majesty's Prince eras. His first victory as a trainer was with Foxhall Keene, owned by Iris Coggins; hisfirst stakes winner was Whodam, owned by John Ellis
Peitz' major clients are Robert and Lawana Low (the owners of Capote Belle), Gerald Martin and Robert Cotran, and JilerLane Stable (Milton Jiler and Leon Lane, both in their 90s) whom he inherited from Joe Cantey when Cantey retired
Best horses: Capote Belle (%60%60of course!'' he said), Whodam, Susan Valley (a winner of nine races and more than $100,000), and Native Wizard, who he trained for Shadwell Farms until he was injured
