- Racing Background: Father Eddie Sr. was a leading jockey in Detroit and Cleveland while Plesa was growing up … Older Plesa became a trainer in the 1960s and permanently moved to Florida when Calder opened in 1971, becoming private trainer for Fred Hooper … Plesa worked for his father and also apprenticed under trainer Stan Hough and at Harbor View Farms in Ocala, Fla. ... He spent one year working in the racing office at Hialeah Park before opening a public stable in 1986
- Racing Career: Plesa has consistently ranked among Calder’s leading trainers for two decades and ranks fourth all-time in wins at the track ... Was honored with an induction into Calder’s Hall of Fame in September 2006 … Three times led the trainer’s standings at Calder’s Tropical meet: 1994, 2002 and 2003 ... Notched a runner-up finish in Gulfstream Park’s trainer’s race in 1997 … Stable has earned over $1 million in 14 straight years … Top runner was Three Ring, who became his first Breeders' Cup starter in 1998 when she finished third in the Juvenile Fillies. Best, who placed in the 2005 Fountain of Youth and Florida Derby … Three half siblings, Yesbyjimminy, A. J.
