  • Born: Oct. 4, 1955 in Philadelphia, Pa.
  • Resident: Atlantic Beach, N.Y.
  • Family: daughter Shannin and son Joseph ... Introduced to racing while in high school parking cars at a restaurant across the street from Garden State Park in New Jersey
  • Took out his trainer's license in 1977
  • First winner was Mr. Tiffany at Atlantic City in 1977
  • Won the 2000 Preakness Stakes with Red Bullet, beating heavily favored Fusaichi Pegasus, the Kentucky Derby winner
  • In 2000, he won the Pimlico Special and Stephen Foster Stakes with Golden Missile and won major stakes races with Perfect Sting and Collect the Cash. Perfect Sting went on to win the 2000 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf and to be named Champion turf female. Macho Uno, who won the 2000 Juvenile, was named Champion two-year-old
  • Orseno received the 2000 New York Turf Writers Association C.V. Whitney Award, which acknowledges special achievement in New York racing
  • Orseno's runners earned more than $6.6 million in 2000, ranking him sixth nationally among trainers
  • Orseno has won more than 1,984 races in his career
  • Leading trainer at five different meetings: Atlantic City, twice at Garden State, Meadowlands and Delaware
  • Became the private trainer for owner Frank Stronach in April 1998. Reopened a public stable in July 2002.
