  • Born: Nov. 24, 1962 in Wilmington, Del.
  • Resident: Oxford, Pa.
  • Family: wife Donna and one daughter. Brother Mario is a leading jockey in Maryland
  • First victory: Too Many Lovers, at Atlantic City in 1983
  • Got his first big horse in 1987 when he claimed Ten Keys for $14,500 at Laurel Park and guided him to win 16 stakes and more than $1.2 million
  • Operates a public stable focused on claiming horses with Richard Englander as his primary client
  • Top winner has been Boston Common, a $50,000 claim from Pino's homebase of Delaware Park in June 2001. Boston Common registered his biggest victory of 2002 in the Jerome Handicap at Belmont. His only Breeders' Cup starter to date, Boston Common finished 13th in the 2002 Sprint
