- Through Oct. 15, 2009, Talamo ranked 22nd nationally with earnings of $6,325,989. He had 113 winners from 981 mounts, a 12% win rate, and an in-the money percentage of 39%.
- Rode in his first Breeders' Cup in 2007 at the age of 17, when he piloted Nashoba's Key to a fourth-place finish in the G1 Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf and Lewis Michael to finish fifth in the inaugural Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile. In 2008 he finished eighth and last on Booyah in the Breeders' Cup Marathon and tenth in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint with California Flag.
- Rides the Southern California circuit with agent Scotty McClellan, who took his book when the 2007-08 Santa Anita meet began. Was formerly represented by agent Ronnie Ebanks, who brought him to the West Coast from Louisiana in 2006.
- Was the regular rider for 2009 Kentucky Derby morning-line favorite I Want Revenge, who scratched the morning of the race due to an ankle injury. Earlier in the season, Talamo had ridden the 3-year-old colt to victory in the G3 Gotham Stakes and in the G1 Wood Memorial Stakes.
- Top mounts in 2009 include I Want Revenge, Santa Teresita (G1 Santa Maria Handicap), Nownownow (G2 San Fernando Stakes), Ball Four (G2 Mervin LeRoy Handicap), California Flag (G3 Morvich Handicap), Red Arrow (G3 Los Angeles Handicap), and Stream Cat (G3 Tokyo City Cup Handicap).
- Part of the cast of the Animal Planet reality show Jockeys, young Talamo has brought the face of racing to the mainstream public through appearances like his Sept. 28 one on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien in 2009.
- For all his achievements in 2007, he earned the Eclipse Award for outstanding apprentice jockey.
- Earned more than $6-million as an apprentice in 2007 until he lost his bug. On first day as a journeyman on July 22 at Del Mar, won three races, including the Fleet Treat on Spenditallbaby.
- First grade 1 victory was at Hollywood Park on July 7, 2007 aboard Nashoba's Key in the Vanity ... A second grade 1 came later in the day aboard upset winner Bilo in the Triple Bend ...“07/07/07: my lucky day!” said Talamo.
- Finished second behind Michael Baze in the final standings for the 2007 Hollywood Spring/Summer meet, 73-68, the second-highest total for an apprentice in track history.
- Earned his first graded stakes victory aboard Ashley's Kitty in the G3 Railbird at Hollywood Park in May of 2007 ... To date, has won stakes races at Delta Downs, Fair Grounds, Santa Anita, Hollywood Park, Aqueduct, Fairplex, and Del Mar.
- Won the first race of the 2006-2007 Fair Grounds meet, that race being the first since the track closed for a full season due to Hurricane Katrina. He never looked back as he became the first apprentice on record to win a Fair Grounds riding title with 119 wins, 25 more than Robby Albarado.
- Left Archbishop Shaw High School (Marrero) in his junior year (2006) to pursue his career as a jockey. Started riding at Louisiana Downs in June of 2006 ... first win came there on July 9.
- First racing experience came at a bush track in Duson, La. called the Quarter Pole, where several other Louisiana riding stars also started ... From there, he exercised horses at Folsom Training Center and then Evangeline Downs.
- At 11, first got on Thoroughbreds for Terry Gabriel at Folsom Training Center. A year later, began working with horses at a half-mile track in Waggaman, La., operated by Zeke Zeringue. There he was mucking stalls, walking horses, and eventually jogging horses.
- Began going to the Fair Grounds at age seven with his father, Joseph Jr., who worked as an assistant to trainer Connie Tassistro.
