Strengths: Dusted a strong group of maidens at first asking at Saratoga on Aug. 4, and returned to defeat the highly regarded Ready’s Image in the G1 Hopeful at the same track one month later. He displayed rate-ability and plenty of finishing punch in both of those efforts, and the bloodlines suggest that a two-turn distance should work in his favor.
Weaknesses: Off two super sharp wins to begin his career, he was sent off as the even-money favorite in the Champagne at Belmont, but failed to raise a gallop. Stuck down inside, he never made an impact at any point, puzzling his connections and bettors alike. Perhaps he didn’t enjoy being stuck down inside, but there’s no question he should have run a lot better. Can he bounce back in a big way?
In the Genes: By A. P. Indy, one of the top sires of our generation. A $2.9 million earner, he won both the Belmont Stakes and Breeder’s Cup Classic in ’92, and has sired 18 Breeders’ Cup starters, winning with Tempera in the ’01 Juvenile Fillies. Bernardini ($3 million), Mineshaft ($2.2 million), Golden Missile ($2.1 million) and Aptitude ($1.9 million) rank among his top earners. Majestic Warrior’s dam, Dream Supreme, also owned by George Steinbrenner's Kinsman Stables, was a multiple grade 1-winning sprinter who earned just over $1 million.
Status: Majestic Warrior did not compete in the Breeders' Cup after it was discovered that he had a slight hoof injury. He will be rested and campaigned in '08. At the end of his racing career, he will stand at Coolmore's Kentucky division, Ashford Stud.
Bet You Didn’t Know: No previous Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner finished worse than fourth in his final prep.
