 Silks and Media:

Earned a spot in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint via a Breeders' Cup Challenge victory in the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom Handicap at Belmont Park on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009.

Strengths: Undeniable ability to thoroughly dominate sprint rivals and win by open margins. Swift from the gate, but also able to exhibit some patience and move when called upon by her rider. She’s a proven class commodity at the highest levels not only in sprint races, but upwards of 1-1/16 miles. Indian Blessing has handled every surface thrown at her and has shown the ability to ship around the country to any locale and handle large, boisterous crowds.

Weaknesses: Few to find. Very little experience in full fields, her dominating presence has scared away much opposition, making her wins over three, four and five rivals noticeably easier. Much of her success has been in races restricted to her age set, though she has beaten older horses at the Grade 2 level.

In the Genes: Her sire Indian Charlie was brilliant in a short racing career, winning four of five starts including the G1 Santa Anita Derby. Indian Charlie sired ’06 Eclipse Award winning distaffer Fleet Indian. His dam Shameful was a graded stakes-placed sprinter, and all four of her victories came in dashes. She earned $241,345 in 12 lifetime starts.
