- Residence: Palatine, Ill.
- Family: Single ... Given name is Edward Thomas Baird, but opts to use E.T. Baird in the program as an homage to his father, the late rider Robert L. (Bobby) Baird, who was always listed as R.L. Baird ... His brother Billy is employed as a valet at the Chicago-area racetracks.
- Through Oct. 7, 2007, Baird had earnings of $2,522,638 with 118 wins from 484 mounts, for a lofty 24 percent win percentage.
- Won 89 races at the 2007 Arlington meet to rank third in the final jockey standings, including four stakes races for the owner/team of Frank Calabrese and Wayne Catalano. Two of those stakes were grade 3 events 30 minutes apart on Sept. 8 when Dreaming of Anna won the Pucker Up and Dreaming of Liz took the Arlington-Washington Lassie. Also won the Virginia Oaks with Dreaming of Anna and G2 Washington Park Handicap with Lewis Michael.
- His father is the late jockey Bobby Baird, a five-time Derby rider. Bobby, who was a D-Day survivor at Normandy, earned four Purple Hearts. He rode until he was 62, and died in December, 2005, at 85.
- Made his riding debut on Nov. 25, 1985, at Hawthorne Race Course, aboard Navy Gloves.
- As an apprentice, he won the 1986 Hawthorne riding title with a then-record of 103 wins ... Was co-winner (with David Nuesch) of the 1986 Eric Beitia Memorial Award, given annually to New York's top apprentice jockey.
- Was inducted into the Hawthorne Race Course Hall of Fame in 1998.
- Traveled to Hong Kong in Dec. 2005 to ride turf-sprint specialist Nicole's Dream in a group 1 race there.
- First Kentucky Derby ride in 2007 when piloting Recapturetheglory to a fifth-place finish at odds of nearly 50-1.
