Strengths: Excellent cruising speed and ability to get away from the gate and make his own trip on or near the lead. Daytona showed in 2007 El Cajon that he’s not 100-percent dependent on the break, closing to get a share from far back. Proven he’s capable of performing over a wide array of turf courses.
Weaknesses: Rugged campaign from late 2007 through spring of 2008 left Daytona a bit empty in summer challenges. Even though a multiple Grade 1 winner, his resume is not filled with elite-level company lines in terms of big-name competition.
