Strengths: The three-year-old Stormy Jack colt streaked to a 3 1/2-length win in the Sunshine Millions Dash, completing six furlongs in 1:06.53 on the all-weather Cushion Track surface. The time is a new world record, besting the previous record of 1:06.67 set by In Summation on January 21 in the Palos Verdes Handicap.
Status: After returning to his Southern California base after his 16th-place finish in the Kentucky Derby, his trainer decided to give the speedster an extended vacation. The focus will be on bringing him back for the Malibu on Dec. 26, opening day at Santa Anita.
Bet You Didn't Know: Bob Black Jack was a $4,500 bargain purchase who has earned nearly 100 times that amount, $442,925.
