In the Bloodlines: Monba's sire, Maria's Mon, was champion 2-year-old in 1995. He died of laminitis, in September, 2008. Hamba, Monba's dam, is a daughter of Easy Goer and granddaughter of Alydar, both runners-up in the Run for the Roses, and Hamba is a half-sister to three stakes-winning dirt horses by Private Account.
