Strengths: Brilliant performer has shown an ability to win on two continents, handling the diverse environments. Showed he was in tune with the early speed of American racing when pressing a fast six-furlong split in the Peter Pan at Belmont and powering home in the stretch. Hails from regal bloodlines as a half-brother to Belmont Stakes winners Rags to Riches and Jazil.

Weaknesses: Extremely lightly raced, he was scratched from this year’s Belmont Stakes with a foot bruise and missed all of the summer and early fall. Has yet to tackle older horses or any surface other than traditional dirt. Has not raced around two turns since his February debut at Kyoto.

In the Genes: By Mineshaft, out of 2007 Broodmare of the Year Better Than Honour. Her previous offspring include Jazil, by Seeking the Gold, and Rags to Riches, by A.P. Indy, winners of the Belmont Stakes in 2006 and 2007, respectively. .

Bet You Didn't Know: Kentucky-bred Casino Drive was a $950,000 purchase out of the 2006 Keeneland September yearling sale. His owner is a Japanese business executive. His conditioner, Kazuo Fujisawa, a champion trainer in Japan, also trained Taiki Blizzard, who finished unplaced in the 1996 and '97 runnings of the Breeders' Cup Classic.
