Strengths: Explosive finisher has shown the ability to deliver knockout punches to her competition, winning by open lengths when on her game. Zaftig can extend her brilliance beyond traditional sprint distances, up to one mile. She toyed with champion Indian Blessing in the Grade 1 Acorn, leaving no doubt as to her class and brilliance.
Weaknesses: Extremely lightly raced, she’s had to overcome physical issues and make up for her inexperience, which includes racing on only dirt surfaces to date. Zaftig has been victimized by problems at the starting gate in her brief career. She has yet to tackle top older fillies and mares, but appears clearly at or near the top of her peer group.
