Earned a spot in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf via a Breeders' Cup Challenge victory in the E.P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008.
Strengths: Exceptional route runner with proven performance and pedigree to handle just about any distance. Owns ability to make her own trip on the front end if the pace softens, but also can sit and pounce when called upon. Folk Opera has proven to be a strong international traveler, winning in Canada, France and England.
Weaknesses: Easy pace in E.P. Taylor at Woodbine did not prove she could handle a quicker, American-style turf pace. A cut below Europe’s best, fading badly in her match-up with eventual Arc de Triomphe winner Zarkava in the Prix Vermeille.
