  • Born: Jan. 16, 1973, Lyon, France
  • Residence: Arcadia, Ca.

  • Attended apprentice school in France before coming to the U.S. in October, 1993. Began his racing career in California, moved his base to Kentucky for several years, and returned to Southern California in 2006.
  • Blanc quickly established himself as a top rider on the tough Southern California circuit. "Brice Blanc does all the right things," noted Hollywood Park's Vince Bruun that summer, "He works hard, he learns from his mistakes, he treats people with respect and, despite all of his success and all of the money he has made, he remains humble to the core, and remains one of the most soft-spoken riders in the room." Despite his quiet demeanor, Blanc possesses a strong competitive fire. Asked about his fellow jockeys, he said: "They like to test you. You can't let it bother you, though, or you won't make it. When I make a mistake and get in a tough spot, they do me no favors. That's fine. So I've learned to do them no favors."
  • Blanc has had two previous Breeders' Cup mounts. He finished off the board both on Queenie Belle in the 2001 Distaff and on Set Play in the 2007 Juvenile Fillies.
  • First win: Gulf Tide, Feb. 5, 1995, at Santa Anita ... First stakes win: Onceinabluemamoon, Oct. 15, 1995 (Santa Anita) ... First grade 1 win: Famous Digger, 1997 Del Mar Oaks
  • Grade 1 wins include Queenie Belle (Lady's Secret), Passinetti (San Juan Capistrano Inv. H), Happyanunoit (Gamely BC, Matriarch and Vinery First Lady) and Caffe Latte (John C. Mabee H).
  • Other major wins have included the 2004 Argent Mortgage Handicap on the Derby undercard when he upset with Shaconage, giving trainer Mitch Shirota his first stakes win at the track where he'd been based for twenty years. He also won aboard With a City in the 2006 Lane's End at Turfway; the horse died mysteriously just days later.
