- Born: Joseph, Boston, Mass., August, 11, 1949; Mary, Boston, Mass., Oct. 22, 1949
- Residents: Quincy, Mass.
- Family: daughter Katie
- Primary business: Grant Associates, a lobbying business in Boston that specializes in health care issues
- Involvement in racing: The Grants were introduced to racing through Joseph's sister, who loved owning racehorses; together they leased a mare and bred her to Courtly Haste
- Enjoyed the experience of owning racehorses so much that they purchased a filly at auction bred by Thomas Kelly
- Left her in Kelly's hands and began a friendship with the Kellys that spans 20 years
- Currently own two broodmares in Kentucky and race their foals
- Thomas' son Patrick now trains for the Grants. All four of Thomas Kelly's sons have trained horses for the Grants. They love Evening Attire and all his brothers and sisters. "He's very intelligent and has lots of personality, and loves lots of attention."
- Outside interests: Mary is involved with Project Linus, a charitable organization that donates blankets to needy children.
