Big Blue Kitten, from the second crop of Kitten's Joy, is the definition of a rags-to-riches story. The 2008 horse started his career in the claiming ranks but after winning two straight, including a five length win in his second victory, moved up the levels. He drew attention to himself at Saratoga in 2011 when he won the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes (G2) in his stakes debut before hitting the board in two other stakes, including a second to Wise Dan in the 2012 Ben Ali Stakes.

Big Blue Kitten tried his hand at international competition at Royal Ascot a few months later but finished 10th. He retirned to Gulfstream in December where he won an Optional Claiming race before returning to stakes company in January 2013, where he finished third. His connections haven't been afraid to run him in allowance races when they can't find a stakes to fit him and that move paid off during the early stages of the year when he won two allowance races in a row before placing second in a Grade 2 event then winning the United Nations Stakes. Later that summer, Big Blue Kitten went on to win the Grade 1 Sword Dancer Stakes at Saratoga. A month later, he took second in the Grade 1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational missing the win by a nose.

A homebred for the Ramseys, Big Blue Kitten comes from the family of U.S. champion Stevie Wonderboy. Big Blue Kitten has won over $690,000 in his career.
