Jockeys David Moran and Pietro Moran became the first father-son duo to ride againset each other in the King’s Plate, the first jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown. Son Pietro went on to win the race aboard Mansetti, becoming the third-youngest jockey at 20 years and 97 days old to win the King’s Plate in the “modern era” of the race, behind David Stevenson (19 years, 319 days) and Jeffrey Fell (20 years and six days).
