Eclipse Awards Charity Golf Tournament Announced to Benefit TAA
LEXINGTON, KY, October 16, 2024: The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) announced today it will be hosting an Eclipse Awards Charity Golf Tournament on Thursday January 23, 2025 in advance of the 54th Annual Eclipse Awards ceremony. The tournament will be held at the Ocean Course at the Breakers Palm Beach and benefit the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA).
The tournament will feature a best ball format and include a 10:00am shotgun start, prizes for the winners, and unique memorabilia. With a limited number of spots available, the price per foursome is $2,500 on a first come first served basis. The NTRA will match proceeds to make a contribution to the TAA on behalf of the Thoroughbred racing industry which will be presented on the red carpet at the Eclipse Awards.
“Supporting aftercare initiatives is a huge component to the sport of racing and what better time to do this than when celebrating racing’s biggest stars of the year,” said NTRA President and CEO Tom Rooney. “This Inaugural Eclipse Awards Charity Golf Tournament is just a small way that we can continue to champion these animals long after their racing careers end. We are grateful to the continued partnership with the TAA and look forward to making this an annual event.”
“Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance is very excited to be part of the Eclipse Awards for another year,” said TAA Funding and Events Director Emily Dresen. “NTRA’s dedication to the betterment and safety of our incredible athletes is instrumental in our ability to provide Thoroughbreds with a soft landing and opportunities to excel in second careers when they retire from the racetrack. We look forward to celebrating racing’s biggest stars and shining a light on accredited aftercare.”
The Eclipse Awards will be held two days before the Pegasus World Cup on Saturday January 25 at Gulfstream Park near Miami, Florida. Together the two events make a must-attend weekend celebrating Thoroughbred racing in South Florida. Ticket sales for the black-tie Eclipse Awards will begin on Monday, November 18, 2024. Eclipse sired the winners of 344 races, including three Epsom Derbies. Eclipse Awards voting is conducted by the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters (NTWAB), Daily Racing Form, National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) member racing officials and Equibase field personnel.
