Immediate Industry Action Needed to Support Modernization of Pari-Mutuel Tax Regulations

The U.S. Department of Treasury has indicated that it is closely monitoring both the quality and quantity of recently submitted comments related to attempts by the horse racing industry to convince the Treasury to modernize tax regulations relating to withholding and reporting of pari-mutuel winnings. The NTRA has set a goal to obtain 10,000 submissions by the June 2 deadline. To date, more than 3,000 comments have been made.

Please lend your support today by completing an easy-to-use, self-populated message (that you may choose to edit) available at /en/legislative/tax-reg-modernization/. The form takes less than two minutes to complete.

The influx of hundreds of millions of dollars in additional wagering through the proposed changes would benefit horseplayers, track operators, owners, breeders and horsemen, as well as state and local governments. Thank you in advance for your support of this important initiative and please encourage others to get involved before the June 2 deadline.
