LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 24, 2021) – Each week, the NTRA will provide a rundown of those who have qualified for the National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) the previous weekend.
The NHC is the most important tournament of the year for horseplayers and is the culmination of a year-long series of NTRA-sanctioned local tournaments conducted by racetracks, casino race books, off-track betting facilities and horse racing and handicapping websites, each of which sends its top qualifiers to the national finals. The 2021 NHC is slated take place in the Bally’s Events Center from August 27-29 with the 2022 NHC set for January 28-30 at Bally’s.

Mark Richards of Pembroke Pines, FL has made 12 previous NHC appearances, notching top 10 finishes in 2013 and 2016. Richards has cashed twice for a total of $68,750.
Brett Wiener, an NHC mentor, is now dual qualified for the 2022 NHC. The Clearwater, FL resident has made 10 previous appearances at the NHC and has cashed once for $10,480.

Jeff Higgins of Derry, NH has qualified for his first NHC appearance.
Michael Odorisio of Omaha, NE has made two prior NHC appearances, including a ninth-place finish in 2020 where he cashed for $52,000.

Ken Jordan of Farmingdale, NJ has made 10 prior NHC appearances with his best finish coming in 2015 when he placed second and cashed for $250,000. Jordan, an NHC mentor, has cashed four times for a total of $282,600.
Adam Haskins of West Fargo, ND will be making his first NHC appearance.
