LEXINGTON, Ky. (December 17, 2020) Each week, the NTRA will provide a rundown of those who have qualified for the National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) the previous weekend.

The NHC is the most important tournament of the year for horseplayers and is the culmination of a year-long series of NTRA-sanctioned local tournaments conducted by racetracks, casino race books, off-track betting facilities and horse racing and handicapping websites, each of which sends its top qualifiers to the national finals. The 2021 NHC is now slated take place in the Bally’s Events Center from August 27-29.

Robert Masterton of East Brunswick, NJ has qualified for his third NHC appearance.

Judy Wagner of New Orleans, LA is now dual qualified for what will be her 14th appearance at the NHC. Wagner, who is also an NHC Mentor, captured the NHC title in 2001 and is a member of the NHC Hall of Fame along with her late husband and 2009 NHC Tour winner, Bryan Wagner.

 

Saturday, December 5

James Metzger of Louisville, KY will be heading to the NHC for the third time, having cashed for $4,400 in 2019.

Andrew Osborne of Rochester, NY has qualified for his second NHC appearance.

 

Lone Star

Robert Childress of Austin, TX is heading to the NHC for the fourth time.

Travis Allison of Frisco, TX will be making his first NHC appearance when he heads to Las Vegas in 2021.

 

Monmouth Park

Lou Filoso of Asbury Park, NJ will be heading to the NHC for the eighth time. Filoso finished fourth overall at the 2017 NHC where he cashed for $100,000.

Phil Lam of Fresh Meadows, NY has qualified for his ninth NHC appearance and has cashed three times for a total of $43,080.

Artis Roque of Cornville, AZ will be heading to the NHC for the eighth time and has cashed twice for $11,700.

Steve Decaspers of Forest Park, IL will be making his fifth NHC appearance and has cashed twice for a total of $17,450.

Keith Nodskov of Bellaire, TX has qualified for his first NHC appearance.
