LEXINGTON, Ky. (November 12, 2020) Each week, the NTRA will provide a rundown of those who have qualified for the National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) the previous weekend.

The NHC is the most important tournament of the year for horseplayers and is the culmination of a year-long series of NTRA-sanctioned local tournaments conducted by racetracks, casino race books, off-track betting facilities and horse racing and handicapping websites, each of which sends its top qualifiers to the national finals. The 2021 NHC is now slated take place in the Bally’s Events Center from August 27-29.

 

Friday, November 6

Jim Clark of Mississauga, ON has qualified for his second NHC and having made his first appearance at the tournament in 2017.

Thomas Kuzdal of New Britain, CT has qualified for his first NHC appearance.

 

Saturday, November 7

Mike Coutu of Windermere, FL is heading to the NHC for the fourth time having cashed once for $12,700 in 2020.

Charles Welch of Elmhurst, NY has qualified for his second NHC appearance.

 

BCBC:

Jonathon Kinchen of Austin, TX will be making his seventh NHC appearance when he heads to Las Vegas in 2021. The 2015 NHC Tour champion and NHC mentor had both of his entries finish in the top 15 in 2015 when he cashed for a total of $84,000.

Matt Kwiatkowski of Franklin, IN has qualified for his first NHC appearance.

Jason Lane will be making his third appearance in the NHC tournament.

Brendan Fay of Florida is now dual qualified for what will be his first NHC appearance.

Vic Stauffer of Novato, CA, best known as the track announcer for Oaklawn Park, has qualified for his fourth NHC.

Steven Wells of Edinburg, ND will be heading to Las Vegas for his third NHC appearance.

Bobby Shoemaker of Helotes, TX has qualified for what will be his third trip to the NHC. Shoemaker has cashed twice, for $13,000 in 2019 and $8,825 in 2017.

James Lisowsky of Saratoga Springs, NY has qualified for his second NHC appearance.

Frank Gryboski of Wayne, NJ will be heading to Las Vegas for his seventh NHC tournament having cashed once for $18,000 in 2018.

Mike Yurczyk of Bloomington, MN is now dual qualified for his fifth NHC tournament. Yurczyk, an NHC mentor, has cashed four times for a total of $36,080.

Brent Johnson of Oakton, VA will be making his fourth NHC appearance.

Frederick Reynolds of Auburn, AL is now dual qualified for his second NHC tournament and will be making his first appearance at the event since 2012.

David Nelson of Exton, PA is now dual qualified for what will be his tenth appearance at the NHC. Nelson has cashed once for $10,700 in 2020.

Robert Graham of Broomall, PA has qualified for his fourth NHC and has cashed once for $4,400 in 2013.

Tim Darnell of Lovettsville, VA will be heading to the NHC for the fifth time having cashed twice for a total of $21,200.
